Upper Grades: 6th, 7th & 8th

Our goal is to provide our upper school students with solid skills, a healthy self-view, a hunger for Godly excellence, and an awareness of what a Christ-centered worldview will mean to them as they begin face the challenges of our modern world in high-school and beyond.

Our upper grade students examine history and geography through a rich collection of primary resources and hands-on, interactive lessons. They apply their growing understanding of literature and their writing skills across the curriculum. Students are exposed to logic and debate, experience both the visual and performing arts, acquire a strong foundation in Pre-algebra and Algebra I, explore science through laboratory experimentation, and engage in advanced Spanish study which often culminates in a week-long Spanish immersion service experience.

In sixth grade, students examine the impact that European colonization had throughout the world. This is followed by a study of the birth and expansion of America as a nation and the ways in which the American Revolution influenced countries around the world.

Seventh grade students study American history from the Civil War through World War I, including westward expansion, the Industrial Revolution, and the Great Depression.

Our eighth grade students study the modern era from World War II through the present. There is a strong emphasis on the important issues of our time including Civil Rights, the Cold War, and global issues such as HIV and radical Islam.
